The purpose of the guarantee inspection is to check if all the construction
time carried out works or repairs after acceptance inspection are acceptable
and whether the bridge has not been damaged or defective.  1; 12

Every new cause of deterioration must be identified that can in the future
affect maintenance. 1; 12

1.1.1.  Regular inspections

The purpose of the general inspection is to check that the bridge has not appeared
serious damage affecting the bearing capacity, traffic safety, future
maintenance and environment / aesthetics. This is a visual check without the
use of access equipment, i.e. most elements for large bridges should be checked
at a distance. If you need a closer look (Fig. 2.2.2.1.), you need to use
binoculars. 1; 12

binoculars 52

The General Inspection includes a simple check on all the bridge elements
above the water level. Groundwater check below water level without diving. In
addition, any test that is indicated in inspection form. No general
measurements are required and material testing, however, in the case of serious
bumps measurements are needed to determine moisture waterproofing the risk of
the onset of percolation. 1; 12

The General Inspection must record the damage
that should be corrected before the next inspection, they are usually grade 3
and grade 4 damage. 1; 12

The inspection form is completed, and the
necessary measurements are made (Annex Nr.1). An after inspection there
should be lot of photos, like:

Ø  Near approach looking at the
bridge;

Ø  Far approach looking to the
bridge;

Ø  Bridge deck and railing;

Ø  Underside of the deck and
beams;

Ø  Upstream looking downstream at
the bridge;

Ø  Downstream looking upstream at
the bridge;

Ø  Looking upstream form the
bridge;

Ø  Looking downstream form the
bridge;

Ø  Near side substructure;

Ø  Far side substructure;

Ø  And additional pictures of
problem areas.

The inspection should be systematic, so you
don’t miss any important parts of structure.

The purpose of the major inspection is to determine if the bridge performs its
functions, as well as to determine all necessary maintenance work and their
costs. If necessary, the inspection also includes measurements and material
testing. 1; 12

The major inspection includes visual inspection
of all bridge structures above the water level, except for the main cable
inspection. Whenever it considers it necessary measurements and material tests
are added to the visual inspection, and it serves as a basis for predicting the
development of open damage in the future. 1; 12

When the major inspection revealed a major need
for repairs or the information obtained is not sufficient to decide what kind,
grade, effect, distribution, or cause is discovered damage, then a special
inspection should be provided.

The visual inspection for major inspection must
be carried out as a close visual inspection, which means that the inspector
must act in hand reach distance to bridge elements. This provision can be ignored
if it is possible to detected damage from greater distances. It may be checking
areas of metal or concrete. Areas where high tension, such as bearers and
joints it is obliged to carry out a close inspection. Serious damage and
inherent defects should be illustrated with photo papers and / or sketches. 1;
12

The main purpose of the cable inspection is to determine whether all cables, clamps and
anchor points fulfil their functions, as well as determine the necessary
maintenance works and their costs. 1; 12

The inspection must check the load-carrying
cables, the hinged rods and the latter operational anchorage elements. Whenever
it feels as needed, measurements and material research to be added visual
inspection, and it serves as the basis for the development of detected lesions
forecasting in the future. 1; 12

The visual inspection should be of a close type.
It includes close visual checking for all cables from anchor to anchor, across
the cross section and in all hanging rods knots. In special circumstances,
these special requirements can be ignored if the possible defect can be
detected from the larger one distances this can be by checking the cables and
rods clearly at a clear distance. In this case, the specific areas should be
selected for visual inspection and others should be left to watch from further
distances. Serious damage and inherent defects should be illustrated with photo
papers and / or sketches. 1; 12
